China is now seeking more global collaboration in life sciences, as leading international scientists and industry insiders gather in Beijing for the 2018 World Life Science Conference. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang expressed his hope that the meeting could be used as an important platform to enhance international exchanges in tackling serious diseases and environmental issues.
Themed "science for a better life", the meeting kicked off Saturday morning. Participants are discussing frontier life science issues, such as cancer treatment, structural biology and vaccines, in 60 sub-sessions over the next three days. Several Nobel laureates are among the more than 400 scientists joining the conference. Earlier, CGTN's Wang Mengzhen sat down with David Baltimore, the 1975 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. He is co-chairing the conference.
