China will adopt stricter intellectual property rights (IPR) protection to further boost its opening-up.
SHEN CHANGYU, COMMISSIONER NATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ADMINISTRATION "We will shorten the invention patent review period by one third. And high value patent review period will be cut by half to meet the international standard."
Shen said IPR protection is key to innovation-driven development and international trade, which also plays an indispensable role in the country's opening-up.
By the end of 2018, the number of invention patents in the country topped 1.6 million, up 18.1 percent year-on-year.
Law makers are also drafting an amendment to the country's patent law after seeing that it strengthens intellectual property rights protection by raising fines for violations.
Shen said China will promote the transformation of intellectual property and encourage technological exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises.
