Nordic Combined is a sports event which brings cross-country skiing and ski jumping together.
It originated at a Norwegian ski festival in the 19th century where athletes enjoyed a package of cross-country skiing and ski jumping.
Nordic Combined was officially adopted as an event starting from the 1st Olympic Winter Games in 1924.
There are three events included in Nordic Combined: Two individual events and one team competition - all of them are only for men.
There are two events for individual competition: Ski jumping normal hill and 10km cross-country skiing, and ski jumping large hill and 10km cross-country skiing.
And the team event asks four athletes to compete over a 5km course, comprising of a combination of large hill ski jumping and cross-country skiing.
Germany’s Johannes Rydzek and his countrymen Fabian Riessle and Eric Frenzel swept the medals in the Nordic Combined's large hill 10km cross country final on Tuesday.
No Chinese athlete has yet competed in a Winter Olympics’ Nordic Combined.
