China launched three Gaofen-1 imaging satellites as part of the country's high-definition earth observation project at Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China on March 31. The satellites were launched off on a Long March 4C rocket, marking the 270th flight mission of the carrier rocket. Initiated in 2013, the Gaofen satellites have a lifespan of six years.
