With the Boao Forum for Asia taking place amid China-US trade conflicts, questions have been raised on how the trade skirmish will affect the Asian economy. Zhou Mi, Deputy Director of the Institute of America and Oceania Study under the Ministry of Commerce, shared his views on the future prospect of Asia’s global competitiveness with CGTN.
In his view, Asia is an area with “rapid development” that benefits from industrial transfer from America. A China-US trade dispute could harm the region's integration but it could be a “long process.” In addition, America trying to solve the trade disagreement unilaterally, rather than through platforms like the WTO, could set a bad example.
