We look back at yesterday, and take a closer look at China's first medal winner of these Games. Liu Jiayu earns the first halfpipe medal for China in their Winter Olympics history. The 2009 Snowboarding World Champ will now focus on the next Games -- on home soil at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Mike Fox has details.
The 25-year-old Liu, started snowboarding at the age of 11 in 2003. That long history in the sport has seen her claim six World Cup Victories and the 2009 world championship. She competed for China at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where she finished off the podium in fourth place, quite an achievement considering she was dealing with a shoulder injury.
That issue leading to three major surgeries. When she did get back on her board, she qualified for another Olympics, managing a ninth place finish in Sochi. Since returning to competition, she has challenged herself trying a new 1080 trick, which she almost completed at a world cup event last year.

As the veteran of the Chinese snowboard team, Liu is constantly pushing herself to strive for better results at competitions, and the three time Olympian is honored to claim China's first medal in Pyeongchang.
At just 25, Liu still has plenty of time to add to her success, and the 2022 Beijing Games are her next goal.
