World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is well poised to play his first match since January's Australian Open on Friday in Spain's Davis Cup quarterfinal. The 30-year-old will take on Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in Valencia on his favorite clay surface.
The 16-time Grand Slam winner has been out of action after being sidelined since retiring with a hip problem against Marin Cilic in his Melbourne quarterfinal.
He will then face Alexander Zverev in the first match of the reverse singles on Sunday.

The Spanish ace has won his last 22 Davis Cup singles matches and hasn’t lost one since his defeat by Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic in his debut match in 2004.
Despite being out of action for several weeks, Nadal reclaimed the top ranking after Roger Federer's surprise loss to world number 175 Thanasi Kokkinakis at the recent Miami Open.
