Sierra Leone Elections: Partial results show opposition candidate ahead in presidential poll
[]
Main opposition candidate Julius Bio has taken a slight lead in Sierra Leone's presidential election.
The west African country's electoral commission, announced that Bio had won 43.33 percent out of the 75 percent of total votes counted. Voting took place last Wednesday to elect the president, parliament and local councils. The ruling "All People's Congress Party's" candidate Samura Kamara, came a very close second in the presidential race, tallying 42.57 percent of the vote. If no candidate clears the threshold of 55-percent for a first-round win, a run-off will take place two weeks after the final results are announced.
