The F1H2O Powerboat Championship of Harbin, held in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang Province, concluded on Sunday.
Nineteen drivers from nine teams participated in the two-day competition.
Hosted by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the competition was co-sponsored by the Chinese Motorboat Association and Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau. The competition aimed to attract more attention to the protection of ecological resources.
The first place in the event went to Sweden’s Erik Stark. The 29-year-old produced a faultless drive around the 1.92 km circuit, beating others by 9.31 seconds. The second place went to Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al Qemzi and third place to Dubai’s Ahmed Al Hameli.
UIM launched the Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship in 1981. Since then, ten matches have been held around the world annually.
