In Syria, rebel fighters have reportedly shot down a Russian plane over the country's northwest Idlib province. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the pilot was captured after he had landed in his parachute. But Russian defense ministry said the pilot had been killed in a ground fight.
