As Qingming Festival is approaching, most Chinese people go tomb-sweeping themselves to pay tribute to ancestors and deceased relatives. But in recent years, as certain factors like long distance or busy schedule may make it difficult for some people, a new business has emerged. /VCG Photo
A cemetery in northwest China’s Xi’an City offers tomb-sweeping service for its customers during Qingming Festival this year. /VCG Photo
Agents would sweep the tomb first, and then hold a short ceremony, including mourning for three minutes and donating flowers and other offerings at the grave sites. /VCG Photo
Customers pay 100 yuan (approximately 16 US dollars) for this service, and can get a 10 minute live video broadcasting of the ceremony through WeChat. /VCG Photo
But the service often gets mixed reactions. Some people take it as a convenient way to show respect to the dead family members, while others think it does not show enough filial piety. /VCG Photo
As for the above cemetery in Xi'an City, only four customers have ordered this service till now. /VCG Photo
