At least four police officers and two passersby were killed in a car bomb blast in Quetta, southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday morning, police said.
Thirty-five police personnel were in a vehicle crossing the Sariab Mill area on the outskirts of Quetta when a roadside bomb exploded, according to Pakistan’s DawnNews.
"We can't say whether it is a suicide blast, our teams are at the scene and investigating," Quetta Police Chief Abdur Razzaq Cheema said.
The Pakistani Taliban, a militant group fighting Pakistan's government and loosely allied to the Afghan Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the explosion specifically targeted the paramilitary Frontier Corps, spokesman Muhammed Khurasani said in a statement.
