90-year-old architect and educator Balkrishna Doshi has been awarded the 2018 Pritzker Architecture Prize. He is the first Indian to win one of architecture's highest honors. The Pritzker jury noted his ability to create works that respect eastern culture and enhance quality of life in India. Doshi is best known for the Aranya low-cost housing project, which accommodates over 80,000 people through a system of houses, courtyards and internal pathways.
