After the success of the Palace Museum's "Relic Hospital", which let visitors witness how ancient artifacts were repaired and restored, the imperial park has a new project in the works, which involves transforming some of the Forbidden City's buildings into exhibition halls that will showcase Chinese culture.
The Palace Museum's project was unveiled to the media on Saturday. It will see several buildings within the compound converted into "Chinese culture halls".
This will help visitors learn more about the essence of Chinese culture, through performances such as traditional Chinese dramas. It will also offer visitors an immersive experience, by allowing them make and enjoy Chinese food and tea on site. The director of the Palace Museum says exhibitions and lectures are part of the plan as well.
SHAN JIXIANG, DIRECTOR THE PALACE MUSEUM "Visitors can sit down and enjoy tea and performances in the Chinese culture halls. Exhibitions and lectures relating to Chinese culture will also be held there. We also plan to move part of the 'Relic Hospital' here, to let more visitors see how the relics were repaired and restored by the masters."
Shan said many of the exhibitions and lectures will tour to major cities around the world, to let global audiences learn more about Chinese culture.
