Australia's Peter Jones can be described as a special "rain man". He lives in Tasmania and he's been keeping a record of the island state's precipitation for more than 50 years. To help memorize the important task, the 84-year-old writes down the figure on his shirt cuff. He records the number every day and sends the monthly total to the Bureau of Meteorology. Last month, the bureau recognised his work with a Rainfall Excellence Award. Jones said he'll keep recording the rain as long as he can make down to the garden and read the gauge.
