China's "God Father of Rock" Cui Jian is at it again! The legendary musician took the stage at a summer concert held in Beijing's Gubei Water Town over the weekend, wowing hundreds of excited fans. Here's more.
A real treat for rock n' roll fans in the Chinese capital!
With the Great Wall as the backdrop, Cui Jian performed 11 of his classic songs from various periods of his long-lasting career - including "Balls Under The Red Flag", "Fake Monk", "Greenhouse Girl", and "Rock 'N Roll on the New Long March".
Dubbed China's "God Father of Rock", Cui was among the first artists to introduce Chinese audiences to the genre in 1986, when he was 25. Since then, his music has fascinated generations of fans.
On Saturday night, the 57-year-old once again ignited the passion of audiences, who packed the open-air theater in the water town, a tourist destination outside Beijing.
Wang Feinan, another performer at the concert, said Cui was among those artists that she looked up to, and she was very excited to share the stage with him.
The show offered more than just rock music. Veteran singer Cheng Lin brought her signature songs, including "Flying with the Wind", accompanied by an Erhu performance. Another guest performer was renowned harmonica player Yang Le. And the concert was just one of the many music-related programs scheduled at the Gubei Water Town this month.
CAI YUN ASSISTANT TO CEO OF GUBEI WATER TOWN "August is the music season at the Gubei Water Town. After this concert, there will also be a music festival, a summer camp, and theater performances."
Located in northeast Beijing, the Gubei Water Town leans against the Simatai portion of the Great wall and the Yuanyang Lake. It boasts a combination of scenic mountains, water and ancient villages.
