Now to the latest on German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to China. On her second day, Merkel went to the country's high-tech powerhouse -- Shenzhen -- in Southern China's Guangdong province. The city is known as the Chinese Silicon Valley, and is the hotbed of "Made in China 2025". Sun Ye has the report.
From the chancellor's talks with local officials, to the unveiling of the China-German Innovation Hub. The day spent, in Shenzhen, is ALL about technology and innovation.
Even when Merkel visited the Siemens R&D and Manufacturing Center in Shenzhen, she was seeing more than just another German branch. The center develops leading MRI equipment, which accounts for one third of the brand's global output. And more than 90 percent of its staff are local talents.
The delegation also stopped by ICARBONX, a start-up that offers health-management services and appliances, using AI, big-data analysis and bio-technology.
WANG JUN FOUNDER & CEO, ICARBONX "She said she never saw anything like this before, and quickly caught on how it could be applied in the market. I think she's impressed with the usage etc."
The German Delegation were struck by this as well, especially those in pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
PHENIX QIN SVP, ICARBONX "I think they're shocked about several things, the speed of our development, and the application scenarios we put the technology in."
