Spring Festival Travel Rush: Railway authorities add trains to cope with pressure
[]
Millions of Chinese have returned to cities where they work as the Spring Festival holiday has come to an end.
More trains have been put into service to cope with the rush. Railway authorities also used measures like "face scanning" check-in for passenger convenience.
China's Civil Aviation Administration said more than 11 million domestic trips were made during the seven-day holiday. The country's airlines provided a total of more than 15 million seats. The average normal rates of flights reached nearly 91 percent. That's up by 6 percentage points over the same period last year. The eve and the Chinese New Year saw the fewest passengers travel by air. Wednesday was the busiest day for return trip flights.
