Russia will team up with the US to create a new lunar station that orbits the moon with the support of BRICS member states, the head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos Igor Komarov said on Wednesday.
Komarov made the announcement at the International Astronautical Congress, currently underway in Australia. He said the project is expected to open new opportunities for the space industry in Russia.
Other members of BRICS, a bloc of emerging market economies including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, are also expected to join the project, he said.
