ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said on his radio show Tuesday that everything he reported about LeBron James being “tempted to beat up Kyrie Irving” was true.
Smith said on Monday, that “if Kyrie Irving was in front of LeBron James right now, LeBron James would be tempted to beat his ass."
Smith also noted that Irving and his team were disappointed in LeBron because they believe it was LeBron’s entourage that leaked the news of Irving requesting a trade.
In response, LeBron tweeted that news about him and Irving becoming hostile with each other had no evidence, and that people should “get another source”.
Infuriated by this tweet, Smith went nuclear on LeBron. He said that his report was literally quotes from what he was told, and that nothing had been fabricated.
Smith continued by saying that he was very disappointed by LeBron’s tweet. He said LeBron has his number, and other superstars would have called him directly.
Smith even threatened that he had a lot of dirt on LeBron but hadn't released it yet. He criticized LeBron for what happened during the series between the Cavaliers and the Celtics in 2010 and the story in the spring when LeBron made “The Decision” to take his talents to South Beach.
