This is how Japan deals with abandoned schools

Japan's decreasing fertility rate has resulted in fewer schoolchildren which led to many schools being shut down.
Local governments have been inviting private investors to transform the disused schools into other institutions.
Hota elementary school in Chiba Prefecture, on the east coast of Japan's main island, Honshu, closed two years ago. 
It has now been transformed into a highway service station which also sells local specialties. 
There were about one million customers last year, producing a revenue of five million US dollars. 
Because farm products sold here are quite familiar, many young people have moved to the region and to work in the agriculture sector.
