US President Donald Trump is sounding confident about his planned meeting with Kim Jong Un. Two weeks ago, it was unclear if the June 12th summit in Singapore was going to take place. Now, we're learning the exact location.
The summit is set to be held on Singapore's southern island of Sentosa. The White House announced that the venue would be the Capella Hotel. The luxurious resort is made up of several restored colonial buildings and military buildings previously used by the British army. Earlier Trump told reporters preparations for the event were "moving along very well". CGTN's Owen Fairclough gave us more from the US State Department.
OWEN FAIRCLOUGH  WASHINGTON "Refreshing perhaps to know that even the US top diplomat can sometimes get its dates a little bit hazy. And we have key details now merging for that summit in Singapore. It will take place in the Singaporean Island. But we also have a commemorative souvenir, key details, crucial details about how the DPRK would denuclearize, what kind of time table there will be for that. They remain to be discussed, we have little information for that. Owen Fairclough, CGTN, Washington."
