The NPC spokesman also took questions on China's international and domestic concerns. Regarding the recent tariff spikes announced by US President Donald Trump, Zhang said although Beijing was not looking for a trade war with the United States, it wouldn't allow sit idle if China's interests were being damaged. He added that cooperation was key in this regard. In response to comments that China was looking to change the world order, Zhang said China wasn't looking to export its model of development, or asking other countries to reproduce it. He added that China "would defend a world order under the UN charter". Zhang also said China wants to advance legislation on tax reform to ensure every category had legal coverage by 2020, and revealed that authorities are drafting a property tax law.
