20 people were killed and several others were injured in an attack at a restaurant in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou on Sunday night, the communications minister confirmed on Monday.
One of the victims was a Turkish national, a local hospital reported.
The incident took place at around 9:00 p.m. at Turkish restaurant Aziz Istanbul in Ouagadougou, where gunmen opened fire on customers seated outside, witnesses reported.
Soldiers launched an operation against suspected ISIL militants.
The operation has ended, communications minister Remis Dandjinou said hours after the attack, adding that at least two assailants were killed by security forces.
The city has seen a surge in violence by Islamic extremists over the past few years.
