A series of fresh earthquakes -- including a magnitude-6.9 -- rocked Hawaii on Friday. The quake was the largest to hit the isolated US state in more than 40 years. It came a day after the Kilauea volcano began spewing lava into residential areas after a series of tremors over the past week. Thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes.
Final results for local elections in England announced early Saturday revealed that British Prime Minister Theresa May's Tory Party fared better than expected. May hailed the results calling it a success for the conservative party. Jeremy Corbyn's Labour party gained ground in some parts of the capital, but was unable to dent ruling party strongholds.
Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez's government expressed regret over a US move to end temporary protected status for 57-thousand Hondurans who have resided in the United States for nearly two decades. They now have until January 5, 2020, to return to Honduras or find a way to legally reside in the US. The Honduran government has pledged free legal and consular support.
