China Development Forum: Beijing optimizes business environment for foreign investors

In today's China Development Forum, Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng reiterated that China will further deepen its market-oriented reforms and continue to optimize the country's business environment for foreign investors to make sure they have equal rights to the Chinese market. Our correspondent Guan Xin has the story.
Speaking at the China Development Forum, Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng promised to further boost imports and reduce the trade surplus.
HAN ZHENG CHINESE VICE PREMIER "China will never stop to promote higher level of opening up. Even if we face up with protectionism and unilateralism, China never treads on the heels of it, builds up any barriers and goes backwards. We will continue to expand import positively and  undoubtedly."
He also promised better protection of intellectual property rights, especially enhancing enforcement.
HAN ZHENG CHINESE VICE PREMIER "China will continue to strengthen intellectual property protection and forbid forced technology transfer on foreign investors. We step up effort to protect intellectual property and enforce the law, and also establish a punitive tort compensation system to significantly increase the cost of illegal activities. We will further enhance policy transparency and predictability, respect international business practices, and treat all types of companies registered in China equally and of course equally in government procurement projects."
Vice Premier Han was speaking with about 150 overseas delegates at the CDF, mostly CEOs of Fortune 500 companies as well as international organizations, and renowned scholars. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler, who is co-chairing the forum appreciated China's leadership in globalization.
He also says global cooperation is the key to the future of the world.
