Teenage schoolgirl shot dead in Alabama

A 17-year-old girl was shot dead and another student was critically injured in an accidental high school shooting in Alabama on Wednesday afternoon.

"Two students were involved in a shooting during dismissal today at Huffman High School," said a statement from Birmingham City School.

The school has been locked down and local police are actively investigating the shooting, according to the statement.

It's not clear if the suspect is in custody.
