Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Xiamen on Sunday to attend the BRICS Summit, which is being held in the coastal Chinese city from September 3 to 5.
Leaders from the five BRICS member countries, as well as from Egypt, Guinea, Mexico, Tajikistan and Thailand, are gathering to discuss cooperation.
Ahead of his arrival, Modi said on Saturday that he was looking forward to "productive discussions" at the BRICS Summit, to which he said his country has "attached high importance".
"I also look forward to productive discussions and positive outcomes that will support the agenda of a stronger BRICS partnership under the chairmanship of China", he said, adding that he will also have bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
