Liu Baocheng, a professor at the University of International Business and Economics, spoke to CGTN about the prospect of resolving the unfolding trade row through negotiations.

We are currently witnessing an escalating trade conflict between the US and China. The US took the aggressive first step while China is trying to engage in constructive dialogue. However, Washington is not doing so simply to offend Beijing but also to solve domestic problems. If both sides are willing to seek proper solutions, there is hope to solving this conundrum peacefully. After all, the US and China are so interdependent that they cannot afford a cold war in trade.
