July 1st marks the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Party members across the nation are celebrating this special day. Wang Hui reports.

"It is my will to join the Communist Party of China."

On the birthday of the CPC, the members are reliving their initiation. Some are singing songs about the Party. Some are learning about the history of the Party.

According to the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee, by the end of 2018, the number of Party members reached nearly 91 million, 20 times that in 1949, when the People's Republic of China was established. Women and ethnic minorities are playing a bigger role. 27 percent of the membership are women, and 7 percent are ethnic minorities. The CPC has also built more organizations at the community level. By 2018, the number had grown 23-fold, up to 4.6 million. A Party member working in real estate described his sense of purpose.
