Pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has also prepared for the Expo. Reporter Xi Jia had a chance to talk with AstraZeneca's CEO. He shared his expectations for the event and the Chinese market.
PASCAL SORIOT CEO, ASTRAZENECA "I think the World Expo is going to be a really important event for China. It's a great way to demonstrate that China is opening to the world, that China has become impact part of the world community. President Xi has said very clearly: he wants China to open up, to be a member of the international community, to drive innovation and collaborate to build a better world for everybody. China is a very, very important country for us. It is an important country for the entire industry, but for us in particular, because we are very strong in China. And I think the export for us is a chance to show our commitment to China. Of course, it's a chance to show that we are doing well, but importantly, to show that we contribute to healthcare in China and improving the life of Chinese patients. Our team has been working very hard to prepare for the Expo, because we consider it a very important event. We have a very large booth, where we will demonstrate our presence in China. We will demonstrate our commitment. We have a lot more cancer medicines that we will bring to China. Some of them will be imported, some of them will be developed locally. We have a lot of projects, we have 7 projects, only in cancer, that are local innovations, developed locally. But, a lot more cancer medicines suddenly will come."
