Star Wars inspires Apple...or is it the other way around?

Apple has recently said that its famous plastic earbuds, EarPods and AirPods, were inspired by the "dark side" – namely the all-white Stormtroopers from Star Wars.
Apple's lead designer Jony Ive told "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams that he had the "look of the original Stormtroopers in mind" while designing the earbuds, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
US technology media The Verge later reported that Michael Kaplan, costume designer for the movie, had had a similar conversation with Vanity Fair in 2015 saying Apple itself inspired the design of Stromtroopers in the first place.
"With the Stormtroopers it was more of a simplification, almost like, ‘What would Apple do?’” Kaplan said in the interview.

Interestingly, Ive also gave Abrams the suggestion to make Kylo Ren’s lightsaber "less precise, and just a little bit more spitty."
The latest in the Star Wars franchise – "The Last Jedi" – is set to open in theaters by the end of the year and will feature a slightly different Stormtrooper design.
