Olympic Diplomacy: IOC President Bach: DPRK's Kim 'appreciative' of unification efforts

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach says the Democratic People's Republic of Korea leader Kim Jong Un has praised the organisation's efforts to help unite the country with the South during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
THOMAS BACH INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE PRESIDENT "He (Kim Jong Un) was also very appreciative of the IOC initiative around the joint march in Pyeongchang, about the joint team (DPRK and ROK), because he considers this as an important contribution to a peaceful dialogue."
Bach made the statement Friday, after meeting with Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang. Earlier in his visit, Bach met with the DPRK's sports minister Kim Il Guk. Bach said he had received a guarantee of DPRK involvement in upcoming Olympic events, including the Summer Games in Tokyo 2020, Winter Games in Beijing 2022 and Youth Olympics tournaments.
