Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE has described as unacceptable a US order that bans the firm from buying and using American technology for seven years. At a press conference in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, ZTE chairman Yin Yimin called the decision unfair, and vowed to pour more resources into research and development. CGTN's Ge Yunfei has this report.
YIN YIMIN ZTE CHAIRMAN "I firmly oppose the decision by the US Department of Commerce, which is unfair and irrational, and it politicizes trade issues. The US has expanded the subtle problems to a great extent, which has a great impact on enterprises. We will take all means permitted by law to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests.
YIN YIMIN ZTE CHAIRMAN "We will increase research and development input. Self-help is better than seeking help from others. Chinese economic development is sustained and healthy. We have a big domestic market and we are confident we can deal with the challenges."
