We begin today in the Chinese capital where a new version of the opera "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" debuted last Thursday. Co-produced by Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts, London's Royal Opera House and Opera Australia, the performance is part of the NCPA's ongoing 2018 Opera Festival.
The NCPA's 2018 Opera Festival sees many new productions by the National Center for the Performing Arts, together with world acclaimed opera houses.
This summer, artists from the NCPA, the UK's Royal Opera House and Opera Australia are bringing a new version of the opera "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" to the Chinese capital.
It was composed by Germany's Richard Wagner from 1845 to 1867. It's his only "comic" opera and boasts lively music, based on a historical social context that includes figures from that period.
Wagner's ideal was to reform art, delivering high praise for German culture and art through the opera.
The show went under the baton of famed Italian conductor Lyu Jia, who has risen to international acclaim through the decades with his expertise and soul-touching interpretation of symphonies and operas.
Lyu also serves as the Opera Director at the National Center for the Performing Arts. He said the five-hour show was a big challenge to both the singers and orchestra.
International teams are working closely together and according to the NCPA, more co-productions are expected to be featured at the Opera festival.
