If you’re born in Hong Kong, how different does that make you compared to someone of the same age from the Chinese mainland?
20 years have passed since Chinese government resumed its sovereignty over Hong Kong, and today, Hong Kong citizens are perceived as differing from their mainland compatriots in many aspects, in areas such as education, law and language.
To find out more about the differences and similarities between people from Hong Kong and the mainland, CGTN invited eight young people from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland to play a quick game of “Never have I ever.” They were divided into four pairs, comprising one person from Hong Kong and one from the Chinese mainland. They were asked to respond to the same question by answering either “I have” or “I have not.”
Although the members of each pair had experienced different education systems and social environments while growing up, most of the young people from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland who took part in the game had similar views on dating, school life and even living with their parents. Both sides showed they are independent, open-minded, and unafraid of expressing themselves.
