A New York City official said during a press briefing Wednesday that six foreigners were among the eight fatalities from Tuesday's truck attack.
Commissioner of the city's fire department, Daniel Nigro, said that five Argentinians and one Belgian national were killed in the incident.
He said that three of the injured people have been released from hospital and that four people who were critically injured are now in a stable condition.
The attack, which saw a truck plough into pedestrians and cyclists on a busy bike path in Lower Manhattan, left eight people dead and a dozen others injured.
