China-Syria Ties: Wang Yi: China continues to play constructive role in Syria

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China has always called for a political solution to the Syrian conflict issue. Wang made these remarks during a joint briefing with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid Mualem on Tuesday. CGTN reporter Su Yuting has more.
SU YUTING BEIJING "Wang Yi has expressed that the Chinese side pays high attention to China-Syria relations, will not be absent from Syria's reconstruction, and stands ready to play a positive role in economic and social development of Syria. He expressed that the situation in Syria is turning into a new development stage which centers on political settlement. Counter-terrorism, dialogue and reconstruction are the three key points for solving the Syrian issue, with anti-terrorism as the foundation, dialogue as the way out and reconstruction as the guarantee. WANG YI CHINESE STATE COUNCILOR AND FOREIGN MINISTER "I want to reiterate that China will firmly support Syria in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. China will help Syria fight terrorism, restore national stability and carry out economic reconstruction."
SU YUTING BEIJING "Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid Mualem said Syria cherishes traditional friendly relations with China and thanks to the Chinese side for playing a constructive role in promoting Syria to realize peace, restore stability and ease humanitarian situation. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the US should change the practice of extreme pressure, adding that any unilateralism is not based on international law. It can not solve problems, but create greater crises."
