China has reiterated its commitment to peaceful and cooperative development and emphasized that it is not a threat to other nations.
The comments, made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang, were made in response to a claim by CIA Director, Mike Pompeo, that “China is America’s biggest threat.”
"We have mentioned on many occasions that China's development is founded on peace and cooperation. We do not pose any threat to other countries, nor will we harm other nations' interests," Lu said.
"Naturally, China won't allow other countries to do harm to us. Therefore, the perspective that we choose is important. Should we act with the perspective of building a shared future for mankind or sticking to a cold-war zero-sum game mentality?"
