While feathers may be more common around the home in pillows or in feather dusters, they're also useful for painting. In northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district, a folk artist is using her creativity to express her expectations for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Using feathers as a brush. These two pictures depicting winter sports like skiing and snowboarding are made by Tang Qiuyuan. The pictures aren't very big, but they took five days to make. Feather painting originated in the Warring States Period and used to be reserved for royalty. Tang learned the technique from her family. She's added her own creativity to the ancient craft.

Tang is now working on a new painting of the ancient city of Yongning. The painting is about 14 meters long and captures the daily life of people and the landscape of the ancient city. CGTN.
