Speaking on World Insight, Khare told host Tian Wei that China is the only permanent member of the Security Council authorizing peacekeeping operations and is also among the top 10 troop contributing nations.
China is also the second largest financial contributor to peacekeeping missions, he said.
Participating in UN-led peacekeeping operations since 1990, China has made a series of leaps in its efforts, but has also faced challenges.
Last year, three Chinese peacekeepers were killed while on duty.
However, tragedies such as this have not deterred China from fulfilling its commitment to maintaining world peace.
