The body of a Filipino maid found stuffed in a freezer in Kuwait has been brought back to the Philippines. Joanna Demafelis was 29. Her body was found earlier this month after her employers, a Lebanese man and his Syrian wife, disappeared in 2016. Her death has triggered a diplomatic row between Kuwait and the Philippines. President Rodrigo Duterte has announced a "total ban" on new employment for Filipinos in the Gulf state, which has been condemned in the Middle East. Over 250-thousand Filipinos work in Kuwait and accounts of them being subjected to abuse and exploitation have long circulated.
