Xi says Trump's visit "successful, historic"

US President Donald Trump’s visit to China is "successful and historic", Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.
Xi made the remark during a joint statement with Trump following bilateral meetings and a business exchange.
Talks between the two leaders have "pointed the direction and drawn a blueprint for the future development of bilateral ties," Xi told reporters.
Xi and Trump reiterated their commitment to achieving denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and resolving the issue through dialogue and negotiation.
They also discussed issues in Afghanistan and agreed to promote further cooperation, Xi added.
This is Trump's first state visit to China and comes as part of his five-nation Asia tour.
