South Korea's unification ministry said on Wednesday that no deadline has been set for the DPRK to respond to an invitation to negotiations.
South Korea proposed holding military talks with the DPRK earlier this month to stop hostile acts near the military demarcation line (MDL) dividing the two sides.
The dialogue offer came as a follow-up measure to South Korean President Moon Jae-in's "Korean Peninsula Peace Initiative," which he announced in Berlin.
Concerns have emerged on the peninsula about what Pyongyang may be planning for July 27 to mark the 64th anniversary of the armistice agreement that halted the Korean War in 1953.
