The Chinese Embassy in Washington held a reception on Thursday to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
Chinese Ambassador to the US Cui Tiankai extended his congratulation to all service personnel of the PLA, and spoke highly of the contributions the Chinese army has made in recent years to safeguard international peace.
Meanwhile, US military officials spoke of their positive expectations while talking about the relationship between the two armies.
When it comes to military-to-military relations "we always seem to see eye-to-eye on defending cooperation issues, no matter what is happening above us with our political masters and our political supervisors," said Brig. Gen. Chad T. Manske, commandant of National War College of National Defense University.
Charles Hooper, special assistant to the director of the US army staff, said he was impressed by the work style of the PLA having served in the US Embassy in China for seven years. Hooper added that he appreciated his Chinese counterparts' effort in putting up a satisfactory job.
