Trade Tensions: EU demands permanent exemption from US steel tariffs

The European Union is demanding that US President Donald Trump gives the bloc a permanent exemption from new tariffs on steel and aluminum. Trump has authorized a temporary suspension of the tariffs from key trade partners, including the EU, until May 1, to allow continuing discussions. The EU is threatening to hit the US with counter-measures if the tariffs are imposed.
