‍China's National People's Congress (NPC), the country’s top legislative body, held a press conference about its supervisory work on a range of issues on Monday.
Members from different NPC committees, including Finance and Economy Committee, Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs and Budgetary Affairs Committee, of the 12th NPC, took questions from reporters home and abroad.
Supervision on expenditure budget and policy
The General Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee issued a guideline on how Chinese legislatures' review and supervision concerning expenditure budget and relevant policies will be enhanced.
One of the major principles to carry out the review and supervision for the NPC is to adhere to the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Liu Xiuwen, deputy director of the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee said as he answered a question from CGTN correspondent.

Liu outlined major principles to better perform the NPC's role in this regard, saying people-centered and problem-driven approaches will be taken to solve problems of people's concerns.
On war against air pollution
Fighting against air pollution is just like "hammering a nail" as the efforts should be made in a targeted manner, Vice-Chairman of the NPC Environmental and Resources Protection Committee Yuan Si said.
Apart from amending the Environmental Protection Law, the NPC Environmental and Resources Protection Committee has also strengthened its supervision and pushed forward the enforcement of the laws.
Noting the committee’s work in tackling air pollution over the past five years, Yuan said persistent efforts should be made.
The first session of the 13th National People's Congress is underway in Beijing and will conclude on March 20.
