A blaze tore through a fireworks factory in Tangerang city near Indonesia's capital Jakarta on Thursday, triggering explosions and sending plumes of black smoke into the air.

At least 47 people have been killed in the blaze, reported AFP citing police officials.
"In total 47 people died. We don't know for sure the number of people who are still unaccounted for," Harry Kurniawan, Tangerang Kota police chief said.

The death toll has climbed to at least 30 in the explosion and fire at a fireworks factory in Tangerang city near Indonesia's capital Jakarta.
At least 46 others were injured in the accident.
Most of the bodies were found in a production room of the factory, a firefighter said at the scene.

The fire broke out at about 9 a.m. local time in an industrial complex in Tangerang. Firefighters were still battling the blaze in the mid-afternoon, according to local media.
