China is hosting the first expo on industrial capacity cooperation with African countries in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
The expo is aimed at accelerating Africa’s industrialization by expanding China’s overseas market for equipment manufacturing and infrastructure construction.
Nearly 60 Chinese companies are showcasing at the event, including giant state-owned enterprise China National Nuclear Corporation, the world’s largest public utility corporation State Grid, and leading telecom China Unicom.
The expo has also attracted companies from over 30 African countries and covers a wide range of cooperation projects, including IT communications, agricultural and food processing, infrastructure, energy, and sanitation.
The four-day expo kicked off on December 13.
Kenyan Ambassador to China, Michael D. M. Kinyanjui said the expo will help African countries like Kenya to achieve their own national goals.
"Vision 2030 is an ambitious development plan that seeks to transform Kenya into a middle-income, industrialized country. We are looking for partners, and China fits well,” Kinyanjui told CGTN.
"As it has very well demonstrated, it has high efficiency. For example, the Mombasa-Nairobi railway was constructed within a very short period of time, much shorter than expected," Kinyanjui added.
