It's the third day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. It's traditional to stay at home and rest, after a few days of big celebrations. But modern Chinese aren't letting tradition get in the way of travelling.
Figures from tourism authorities show, since Thursday, the country's sightseeing spots have hosted 214 million visitors. Tourism revenue during the 3-day period hit 250 billion yuan, up almost one tenth from last year. Thailand, Japan and Singapore are among the most favored outbound destinations. Outdoor activities like visiting lantern shows and temple fairs are on many holiday agendas. The fairs feature food stalls and folk art performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.
